JEE MainThe joint Admission Board of IIT released a New Exam procedure for IITs and NITs in the year 2013. The admission to the undergraduate programmes at the IITs and ISMU, Dhanbad, NITs, IITs, DTU, CFTIs will be based on a two tier test, which consist of JEE Main (Formerly known as AIEEE), JEE Advanced (Formerly known as IIT-JEE). The first exam is called the JEE Main conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). The JEE Main will be conducted Twice in year on online modes on different dates of January and April respecitvely in 2020. Admission for NITs, IIITs, DTU,CFTIs (Previously AIEEE Admissions) :
The merit list for admission to NITs, IIITs, DTU, Delhi and other CFTIs will be according to performance in JEE Main Examination.
Note : JEE Main exam is equivalent to the Previously AIEEE exam.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha and other States Engineering Admission with JEE Main :
The students from the following states seeking engineering admission are also advised to fill in the JEE Main application form online. The states are Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland.
- The minimum academic qualification for appearing in JEE Main 2020 is that the candidate must have passed in final examination of class XII or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination.
- Those appearing in class XII final or equivalent examination in 2020 may also appear in JEE Main 2020 examination provisionally.
- Candidates must have passed 5 subjects in their Class XII. Not Applicable for students who have passed in 2018 or 2019 with four subjects.
- Candidates must have studied Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- They must have studied any one of the subjects as optional subjects (Chemistry, Bio-technology, computer Science, Biology)
- Eligibility for Admission to NITs, IIITs and Other Institutions participating through Seat Allocation Board

- Candidates passed Class XII in 2017 or before are not eligible to appear in JEE Main examination. Only candidates passing in 2018/ 2019 or 2020 are eligible.
- Candidates’ date of birth should be on or after October 1, 1994 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD i.e 1990)
JEE (Main) – 2020 shall have two papers, Paper-1 (B.E./B. Tech.) and Paper-2 (B. Arch./b. Planning.). Candidates may take Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.), or Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.), or both as per the course(s) they are seeking admission to.

Declaration of JEE (Main) Paper–1 Score : By 31st January,2020 JEE AdvancedThe second exam is called the JEE Advanced. The top 2,24,000 rankers of JEE Main, which includes students from all categories [GEN, OBC(NCL) SC and ST] as per Reservation policy will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced Test. The JEE Advanced exam will be held on 20 May, 2018.The complete examination will be conducted in COMPUTER BASED TEST (CBT) MODE ONLY. A candidate, including a foreign national, must fulfill each and every one of the following four criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.
Performance in JEE (Main) 2017 :
The candidate should be among the top 2,24,000 (all categories included) in JEE (Main) 2018. The percentages of the total number of candidates for various categories is as follows:
· 50.5% for GEN (from the common merit list)
· 27% for OBC (NCL)
· 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST.
· Within each of these four categories, 3% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.
Age limit :
Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1993. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1988.
Number of attempts :
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in consecutive years. Therefore, candidates who appeared in JEE (Advanced) 2017 for the first time are also eligible.
Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination:
A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2017 or 2018. However, candidates whose Class XII (or equivalent) examination Board results for the academic year 2015-16 were declared after June 2016 are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.
Earlier admission at IITs:
A candidate should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program) OR accepted the IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. The candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.
Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2017 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018. The candidates who have paid seat acceptance fee but not accepted the seat (by not reporting at any reporting centre during joint seat allocation in 2016) are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.
Performance in Class XII (OR Equivalent) Board Examination
· Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%.
· Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination .The percentile calculation will be done for the required subjects in a single academic year only.

Admission to IITs and ISMU Dhanbad will be based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Advanced and one of the criteria for admission to IITs and ISM is that the candidate should satisfy at least one of these two criteria:
· He/she is within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in his/her respective Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination.
· He/she has secured 75% (for GEN or OBC-NCL) and 65% (SC, ST or PwD) of aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination
